Infineon

Infineon Technologies offers semiconductor and system solutions addressing three central challenges to modern society: Energy Efficiency, Communications, and Security. Infineon has been firmly committed to the automotive industry for over 35 years and has established a proven track record. Offering one of the broadest product portfolios in the business, Infineon is the worldwide number one automotive semiconductor supplier. In the automotive sector, the company’s product range includes power semiconductors, discrete semiconductors, silicon sensors and optoelectronic semiconductors as well as microcontrollers. Infineon automotive products target automobile electronics applications such as powertrain, comfort management (e.g. light modules, air conditioning), safety management (e.g. antilock braking systems, airbags, stability control) and infotainment. It is through Infineon’s engine control technology that the European and American emissions from cars and light trucks have been able to be successively reduced year on year for new production vehicles. Cars and light trucks account for approximately 12% of the total European emissions of 4.2 billion tonnes of CO2 (or around 500 million tonnes annually). Infineon has developed the enabling technology to yield an estimated reduction of 24% in CO2 emissions between 1995 and 2008 (worth 120 million tonnes annually). Infineon Technologies is a premium AUTOSAR member. Infineon Technologies (UK) Ltd is based in Bristol, one of Europe’s leading clusters of microelectronics design activity. The site has around 70 employees, most of whom are dedicated to development of the Industry-leading TriCore embedded microcontrollers for automotive applications.
