Iain Bate is a Senior Lecturer in the Real-Time Systems Research Group in the Computer Science Department at the University of York, UK. Iain specialises in the design of dependable systems including scheduling and timing, task allocation, the design and certification of Safety-Critical Systems and Wireless Sensor Networks. Phillips and BAE SYSTEMS have supported two PhD studentships and Airbus two EngDs. The MoD funded a 3 year post-doc looking at the certification of systems. EPSRC has funded his work in Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) analysis and task allocation. He is a co-investigator on the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research funded grant SYNOPSIS which looks at incremental certification for multiple domains. In total, he has been leading or co-investigator on more than 15 million euros worth of project funding. He has published over 100 papers, supervises 6 PhD students and 5 post-docs. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Systems Architecture, and is a Visiting Professor at Mälardalen University.
